29 September 2011

Miro has his Pappy's Maitre tongue,
Which frequently sorts as he cuts impeccably with scissors...

28 September 2011

Leaving Nanny and Din's
Is always filled with fun and fanfare;
From putting on the seatbelt, to scary monsters through the window;
Tickles, Minties, the Claw voice, and waves goodbye.

Today though, Miro doesn't want to go home "at all!"
And kicks up a fuss when Leelee, Lachie and Din all try to do him up!

27 September 2011

At the park with Tai, having fun on the slide...

And with Archie's haloed undies.

When we first had to borrow them, and took them home to wash
He showed them proudly to visitors in the dirty wash basket.
Once clean, he took them out to admire them every now and then,
And finally decided to wear them once more today.

"Why do you like them so much?" Mummy asks him.
"Because they're cool," he says.

26 September 2011

A torrential shower while we're out
Is followed by blazing sunshine
And has Miro very confused.
"Did it rain at home?" he says.

But it's fun to toss brollies ~
Though not so clever, as both are almost instantly broken!

25 September 2011

On a wild day plunging rain from the skies
Miro gazes out the window
And asks Mummy, "where do the ants go when it's raining?"
"And the stick insects...?"

Because it's raining so much, we take Miro and Matai to the Wiggles exhibition
And Miro loves waving his hands and jumping along with his electronic blob avatar.

Afterwards, hungry, we go to a "'Estaurant" to eat cheesy dosai
In the damp steamy purple interior of Khammadenu.

24 September 2011

Miro is not all too impressed
When Daddy locks the boys out in the garden
While he mops the kitchen floor.

"But it's rain-ing..." he wails at the window.
And when Daddy is unresponsive, "Mummy?"

Later, Daddy takes the boys to the park
But Miro falls off his bike, and can't get his groove back!

Eventually though, he finds his injuries not so worrisome
As not to jump on the trampoline, and swiftly scale the stairs.

23 September 2011

Uncle Stevee, sans Lucee,
Is so fun to play with,
Wrestling on the grass
Until a rogue throw sends Miro sooky.

22 September 2011

Miro and Matai halt their play
For a yummy yoghurt break.

21 September 2011

Miro has a dream day with Archie,
Visiting Maroubra, making a "pond" and stripping down to the nuddy;
Wrestling endlessly, kicking sand everywhere, then going to Yum Cha
For noodles and halved calamari tentacles; thumping at the fishtanks.

20 September 2011

On the way to Nanny and Din's
We spot a blue-tongued lizard
And the boys squeal and laugh
At his funny waddle, and the way he hisses
And flips out his tongue when Mummy tries to touch him.

19 September 2011

Today Miro refuses outright to go to school
And after two hours, Mummy relents.
We spend the rest of the day both treading very carefully,
And appreciating the illicit enjoyment of a wagging day.

18 September 2011

After an initial coldness all round,
Miro and his little friends are suddenly having the best of fun,
Zoooming! down the ramp and onto the grass!

17 September 2011

Miro has been learning cartoon drawing with Daddy,
Studiously making little faces, forward facing and profile,
And now extends his love to colouring in, happily passing the hours
With pencil in hand, keeping within the lines.

16 September 2011

Miro's latest obsession is cutting everything with the scissors he finds,
And he does a good job snipping brochures and stray paper bits
Into super fine confetti that litters the study.

Moments later though, the precision falls flat
When he accidentally bumps his mouth against the computer desk
And cuts his mouth with his teeth, in two places,
Needing copious cuddles to make him feel better.

15 September 2011

After another good day at school,
Miro is doubly excited to be going to visit Archie in the afternoon.

The kids have a "nursery tea" of fish fingers and chippies
On a blanket on the lawn outside,
Jumping on the trampoline, and later, wrapping themselves in the blanket,
Falling everywhere!

14 September 2011

Miro loves running to the gate at Nanny and Din's place;
Giggling in the car as Din makes faces and tickles him.

13 September 2011

Farewells for Nanna
After a lovely day in the sunshine,
Eating fish and chips and playing at the park.

12 September 2011

Miro has a great day at school today.
He loves playing tennis and painting the best.

11 September 2011

Flying a kite with Papa
At the Festival of the Winds.

10 September 2011

Family fun
When Gen, Dane, Gran, Pierre and Robin all come to visit,
Eat yummy gateau, and play on the fence!

9 September 2011

Watching jumbos pass overhead
With planespotter Nanna...

8 September 2011

Sleepy starey-eyed
After six hours at school
(But happier than Monday...)

7 September 2011

Nanna captures a yawn
As Miro watches his favourite movies.

6 September 2011

Nanna visits from Melbourne!
We go to Danks Street for a yummy lunch
And the boys go crazy sliding down the walls of the Design Centre.

5 September 2011

Miro's first day at "school"
Starts off with him wearing his backpack,
Impatiently ready twenty minutes before everyone else.

Once he gets to school, he's not so sure,
But says a brave goodbye before Mummy and Daddy depart.

Picking him up, his attitude has completely changed,
And he no longer wants to go to school anymore!

4 September 2011

Daddy's Day BBQ
After Father's Day Fiesta Bruncheon
Leaves hot competition for Daddy's arms
And a lucky nearby Uncle Lee Lee to fork him well-earned steak.

3 September 2011

The best playground at sunset.
Tucked in the bush, beside the river,
Miro sloughs down the slide through sets of cheering children
And feels the bliss of big kid acceptance.

2 September 2011

On a "Boys' Day Out", where Miro rides his bike so much
That his jeans leave big sores on his inside legs
(And he bursts into tears just thinking about them!)
There is nothing to be done in the evening
But recover in front of dinosaur movies
And face the tearful bath.

1 September 2011

The boys love playing Hide n Seek
Which they have learnt from somewhere unknown...
(Complete with calling out "ready or not, here I come!")
And squeal with delight when they discover a new hiding spot,
And count to ten in ways that surprise even more than discovery!

Today, they play in the sunny garden
While Mummy, Lucy and Stevee swing on the hammock,
And Daddy secretes himself in the bushes.

31 August 2011

With his monster cupcake
On a shopping day with Nanny.
